The Lessons

At The Chris Jamieson School of Drumming I believe that anyone should be able to learn drums and pursue the path and goals that they want to, in whatever style they prefer. Lessons are shaped entirely around the student in order to achieve this and are suitable for all ages and abilities. Whether you are just starting out or already have experience and want to develop your playing and explore new concepts and techniques, there is a pathway for every individual. Lessons are on a 1-2-1 basis and are taught on electronic drum kits in a specially designed studio. Grades can also be offered in three internationally recognised syllabuses, from Initial, all the way to grade 8, and don't forget, grades 6-8 offer valuable UCAS points for those considering going to university.

Trinity Jazz

In the past I have often referred to the Trinity Jazz Course as "The Proper One," or "The Stuffy One," but the truth is the Trinity Jazz course is the original, and it is a BEAST! If you wish to be a well rounded, technically gifted monster of a drummer, then this is the syllabus for you, but it hits hard.

Of course, it eases the student in gently, but the Trinity Jazz course soon demands that the student develops a wide array of techniques across a broad range of genres. Drawing predominantly from jazz, musical theatre and soundtracks, with a strong emphasis on rudimental playing, the student will develop great sight reading abilities, musicality and technical skill, and once you hit grade 8, what an absolute beast of a drummer you will be!!!

Tunes covered by the Trinity Jazz Course include:

The Double Bubble Duchess (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Spain (Chick Corea), Helpless (Hamilton), Caravan (Duke Ellington), Tombo in 7/4 (Airto Moreira), Grebfruit (Benny Greb).
