About Chris Jamieson

It is hard for me to believe that I have now been playing drums for 24 years! Starting out as a 15 year old, I simply wanted to play in a band with my mates, who already played guitar and were big fans of Nirvana. Of course I thought that being a Rockstar would be cool.

I had no idea where that decision as a fifteen year old would take me, and maybe I didn't wind up being the super cool rockstar I envisaged as a 15 year old, but I could not be more thankful for what drumming has given me. As a result of playing the drums I have met so many amazing people and developed fantastic friendships, played across Europe and experienced different countries and cultures, put a roof over my head through both teaching and playing, experienced the buzz of music festivals from the stage, and had music that I have played on released to international audiences through Spotify and Youtube.

I graduated from the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford in 2011 with a First, and I have spent the last 12 years teaching 100s of students and playing with dozens of bands and artists in a range of settings, from weddings and parties, to recording studios, theatre pits and festival stages. All of these experiences have given me immeasurable joy, and it is this experience, and my love for music and drumming, that I love to pass onto my students. Regardless of the aims of the individual, I believe enjoyment, passion and fun should be at the centre of drumming, and this shapes my approach to teaching.
